Need

This company is one of the key players in food processing in the national and international arena. With a turnover of over €100 million and around 300 employees, it is renowned for its production of oil-preserved vegetables and also operates in the private label market. With a view to continuous improvement, following a series of significant investments, the company explained how it needed to improve control and performance of its production departments by adopting a Smart Factory model.

Solution

WIL's action was developed starting with the objectives specified by the company at all levels, by rationalising requests and defining a development strategy in line with the company's priority goals. Next, the production, quality, and planning processes were mapped to determine the current information flow and an information representation model was created for the components of production, based on specifications linked to industry 4.0.
First of all, the business specifications were defined, which were then converted into technical specifications in terms of function, budget, resources, design, logic, etc. Next, the appropriate documentation was formalised to select, through a call for proposals, a suitable technology partner to deliver the system.
The second stage involved the management of the call, the selection of bidders, the management and coordination of in-depth analyses, strategic consulting on the decision-making variables, through to the announcement of the final winner.
