Intangible asset assessment
We are available to help companies determine the economic value of an intangible asset for the purposes of exceptional transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, contribution of a business unit to a Newco, or the acquisition or sale of an intangible asset from or to a third party.
What we do
We have developed a 3 step method for valuing intangible assets:
1. Data collection and analysis
- Collection and analysis of all quality-related, accounting, technical, forecast, and documentary information (e.g. business plans, past studies) which may be useful in determining the value of intangible assets (patents, know-how, trademarks, software).
- Analysis of the measures adopted by the company for the legal protection of its assets.
- Identification and assessment of the technical and financial parameters of the asset for which the appraisal report is being prepared and of the company which owns the asset.
2. Identification of the assessment method
- Identification and choice of assessment method based on real cases.
- Quality analysis of the main technical and economic factors concerning the intangible assets to examine.
- Application of joint calculation methods to determine the economic value of the asset(s) according to the market within which the company operates.
3. Preparation of the documental output
- Preparation of an appraisal report for the intangible assets.
Results
- Conscious management of the company's intangible assets for the purposes of exceptional transactions.
