Smart maintenance: Augmented reality
Study and design of a new cloud platform featuring augmented reality for remote management and supervision of maintenance work.
Need
This company, which has 80 employees and a turnover of €20 million (including over 70% generated abroad), specialises in the design and manufacture of food processing and packaging machines. It came to us with the need to develop a system for remote maintenance and remote diagnosis, to allow its engineering department to remotely assist and supervise maintenance work and check for component wear in order to automatically manage orders for spare parts.
Solution
The innovative solution was designed on the basis of an in-depth analysis of the current maintenance processes and end-user requirements. It consists of a cloud platform for the acquisition, reference, and sharing (with other management systems, including the spare parts warehouse) of all machine data, as well as an app for mobile devices for onsite maintenance workers, with features including provision of services, remote assistance via online chat, video tutorials, and augmented reality for assembly instructions.
Benefits
- 25% less time and money spent on maintenance and optimisation of the spare parts supply chain.
- New after-sales services linked to remote assistance and automatic order management for spare parts.
- Higher market shares and greater added value of products compared to competitors.
